Does this work? An honest check
Every draw is an independent random event: every line has the same chance of the top prize, 1 in 45,057,474. The AI Agent’s lines are a selection based on past draws, not a forecast.
Uniformity test (χ²): main numbers p = 0.887. With p above 0.05 the differences in frequency look like ordinary random noise.
Backtest on the last 150 draws: for each draw every strategy picked numbers from earlier history only (3 lines per draw), then matches were counted.

UK Lotto at a glance
Lotto is The National Lottery's main draw game in the UK, run by Allwyn Entertainment Ltd. It is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday. You pick 6 numbers from 1 to 59, a Bonus Ball is drawn as well, and under the new format each draw night has two rounds, both played by the same line. As of October 2026 a line costs £2. The current jackpot is £2,000,000, and the next draw is Oct 14, 2026.
Two rounds per draw: what changed in the new Lotto
The biggest change in the new Lotto is that each draw night has two rounds. According to The National Lottery's "About Lotto" page, the numbers are drawn twice and your line plays in both rounds. You do not choose a second set of numbers or pay twice: one £2 line covers both.
That matters when you check a ticket. A line that misses in the first round can still win in the second, so compare your numbers with both sets of results.
A note on LottaGo's data: our data partner supplies one set of winning numbers and one Bonus Ball per Lotto draw night. If the second round is missing from our results table, check it on The National Lottery's website before you throw a ticket away. We have also not verified the details of how prizes are split between the two rounds, so this page does not describe them.
Rollovers and the Must Be Won draw
When nobody wins the Lotto jackpot, it rolls over to the next draw. The National Lottery limits this:
- The jackpot can roll over a maximum of 5 times.
- The draw after the 5th rollover is a Must Be Won draw.
- If nobody matches all six numbers in a Must Be Won draw, the jackpot rolls down. Match 2 is paid at £5, and the remainder goes to the Match 3 prize level.
A Must Be Won draw does not improve your odds of matching numbers. It only changes where the jackpot money goes if nobody hits six.
How UK Lotto works in short
- Choose 6 numbers from 1 to 59, or use a Lucky Dip.
- Pick Wednesday, Saturday or both. A line costs £2 (as of October 2026).
- On draw night, your line plays both rounds.
- Matching 2 numbers is the lowest prize. Matching all 6 wins the jackpot.
- A Bonus Ball is drawn as well. It never counts towards the jackpot, and the prize breakdown on the results page shows which lower levels use it.
For a full, step-by-step guide that also covers Thunderball, see how UK Lotto and Thunderball work. Lotto has no lunchtime or teatime draw. Searches for "UK Lotto lunchtime" or "teatime" are usually about other games, which are not covered on this page.
Your odds of winning UK Lotto
In a single round, 6 numbers are drawn from 59. The number of possible combinations is:
C(59,6) = (59 × 58 × 57 × 56 × 55 × 54) ÷ (6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1) = 45,057,474
So within one round, a line has a 1 in 45,057,474 chance of matching all six. This is our calculation from the 6-from-59 grid. That also answers "how many combinations are there in the UK Lotto": 45,057,474 for each round.
Because every line now plays two rounds, its chance across the whole draw night is a little higher than for one round. The National Lottery has not published official jackpot odds for the new two-round format on the pages we checked, so we do not quote a per-line figure. The jackpot odds compared across lotteries page compares the round odds with EuroMillions, Thunderball and the rest.
About the AI Agent lines for UK Lotto
The AI Agent panel above shows 5 lines of 6 numbers, built from 1,042 past Lotto draws since Oct 10, 2015. Each line follows one strategy (hot numbers, overdue numbers, all-time leaders, typical shape or frequent pairs) and comes with a short reason, such as how many times its numbers came up in the last 100 draws.
In a walk-forward backtest over the last 150 draws, each strategy picked 3 lines per draw using only earlier results. They performed like random picks. No line, from the AI Agent, a Lucky Dip or your family's birthdays, makes a jackpot more likely. Read how the AI Agent picks lines for the method, and see the counts behind it on the UK Lotto number statistics page.
LottaGo lists UK Lotto as results only. It does not sell UK Lotto tickets, and there is no "Buy ticket" button for this game.
