Does this work? An honest check
Every draw is an independent random event: every line has the same chance of the top prize, 1 in 290,472,336. The AI Agent’s lines are a selection based on past draws, not a forecast.
Uniformity test (χ²): main numbers p = 0.479, Mega Ball p = 0.356. With p above 0.05 the differences in frequency look like ordinary random noise.
Backtest on the last 79 draws: for each draw every strategy picked numbers from earlier history only (3 lines per draw), then matches were counted.

Mega Millions at a glance
Mega Millions is a US multi-state lottery drawn every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00 pm ET. You pick 5 white numbers from 1–70 and a gold Mega Ball from 1–24. As of October 2026 a play costs $5, with a 2X–10X multiplier built in. The jackpot odds are 1 in 290,472,336. The current Mega Millions jackpot is $385,000,000, and the next drawing is on Oct 13, 2026.
The AI Agent lines above are picked from 158 drawings under the current rules. They are a selection from past results, not a prediction, and no line improves your odds.
What the 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X and 10X on your ticket mean
Every Mega Millions ticket now carries a multiplier: 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X. It is assigned at random when you buy the ticket. If that play wins any prize below the jackpot, the prize is multiplied by that number.
So "x2" on a Mega Millions ticket means your non-jackpot prize is doubled, and "3X" means it is tripled. The multiplier never applies to the jackpot. The smallest prize shows how it works: matching only the Mega Ball pays $10 to $50, depending on your multiplier. The odds of that match are about 1 in 35.
You cannot choose the multiplier or switch it off. It replaced the optional Megaplier, which players used to buy separately.
What changed in April 2025
Mega Millions changed its game on April 8, 2025:
- The price went up to $5 per play, with the built-in multiplier on every ticket.
- The gold Mega Ball pool shrank from 25 balls to 24.
- The lowest prize rose to $10.
The smaller Mega Ball pool improved the jackpot odds. Before the change there were 12,103,014 × 25 = 302,575,350 possible plays. Now there are 12,103,014 × 24 = 290,472,336. LottaGo's number statistics start from that date, because counts from the old 25-ball game would not compare fairly.
How Mega Millions works in short
- Choose 5 different numbers from 1 to 70 and 1 Mega Ball from 1 to 24, or ask for a quick pick. A quick pick has exactly the same odds as numbers you choose.
- Pay $5 per play. A random multiplier is assigned to each play when you buy.
- Watch the drawing on Tuesday or Friday at 11:00 pm ET. It is held at WSB-TV in Atlanta, Georgia.
- Check your numbers. There are 9 prize tiers, and the odds of winning any prize are about 1 in 23.08, according to the California Lottery.
Each jackpot starts at $50 million and rolls over until someone wins. A jackpot paid as an annuity comes as an initial payment plus 29 annual payments, each 5% larger than the one before. Mega Millions sales began on May 15, 2002, with the first drawing on May 17, 2002. The game grew out of The Big Game, which began in 1996.
Your odds of winning Mega Millions
The jackpot odds follow from the number matrix:
- Ways to choose 5 white numbers from 70: C(70,5) = 12,103,014
- Ways to choose the Mega Ball: 24
- All possible plays: 12,103,014 × 24 = 290,472,336
One play covers one combination, so your jackpot chance is 1 in 290,472,336. Ten plays cost $50 and give you 10 in 290,472,336, about 1 in 29 million. The $5 price buys a multiplied small prize, not a better jackpot chance. Powerball's odds are almost the same at $2 a play. Our Powerball vs Mega Millions comparison sets the two side by side, and the jackpot odds compared across lotteries cover every game on LottaGo.
About the AI Agent lines for Mega Millions
The AI Agent builds 5 lines from the 158 Mega Millions drawings since Apr 8, 2025. Each line follows one strategy: hot numbers, overdue numbers, all-time leaders, the typical shape of a drawing, or frequent pairs. Each one comes with a short reason.
The honest part matters more. In a walk-forward backtest over the last 150 drawings, each strategy chose 3 lines per drawing from earlier results only. They matched about as often as random picks. The table above shows the result. Treat the lines as a quick pick with a story, not an edge. See how the AI Agent picks lines for the method, or the Mega Millions number statistics for the raw counts.
Buying Mega Millions tickets through LottaGo
Mega Millions is listed as on sale on LottaGo. The Buy ticket button leads to LottaGo's official partner, which buys a real ticket for you and pays out any prize. LottaGo does not sell tickets or pay prizes itself. LottaGo earns a commission on those sales. The commission never changes the statistics or the AI Agent lines.
The partner's restriction list includes the United States, so the button is not a way to play from inside the US. US players should buy from an authorized retailer of their own state lottery.
Mega Millions FAQ
Why does Mega Millions cost $5?
Since April 8, 2025, every Mega Millions play includes a random 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X multiplier on all non-jackpot prizes. That built-in multiplier replaced the optional Megaplier. The same change cut the Mega Ball pool from 25 to 24 balls and raised the lowest prize to $10.
What does x2 mean on Mega Millions?
It is the random multiplier that comes with your play. With 2X, any prize you win below the jackpot is doubled. With 10X it is multiplied by ten. The multiplier is chosen at random when you buy. It never affects the jackpot or your odds of winning.
When is the next Mega Millions drawing?
Mega Millions is drawn every Tuesday and Friday at 11:00 pm Eastern Time, at WSB-TV in Atlanta. The next drawing is on Oct 13, 2026, and the jackpot for it is $385,000,000.
What Mega Millions numbers should I play?
Every combination of 5 white numbers and a Mega Ball has the same 1 in 290,472,336 chance. Hot, overdue or "lucky" numbers do not change that, and neither does a quick pick. Choosing numbers above 31 can reduce the chance of sharing a jackpot with people who play birthdays.
How much is a Mega Millions ticket?
As of October 2026, one Mega Millions play costs $5. The price includes the random 2X–10X multiplier on non-jackpot prizes. There is no cheaper version without the multiplier. Ten plays for a single drawing cost $50.
Is Mega Millions tonight?
Mega Millions is drawn on Tuesday and Friday nights only, at 11:00 pm ET. If today is Tuesday or Friday, the drawing is tonight. On other days, the next drawing is on Oct 13, 2026. Powerball is drawn on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
