Does this work? An honest check
Every draw is an independent random event: every line has the same chance of the top prize, 1 in 290,472,336. The AI Agent’s lines are a selection based on past draws, not a forecast.
Uniformity test (χ²): main numbers p = 0.479, Mega Ball p = 0.356. With p above 0.05 the differences in frequency look like ordinary random noise.
Backtest on the last 79 draws: for each draw every strategy picked numbers from earlier history only (3 lines per draw), then matches were counted.

Most common Mega Millions numbers
Since the current rules began on Apr 8, 2025, across 158 drawings, the most drawn Mega Millions white balls are 40, 42, 17, 18, 49, and 63. The charts above show every white ball from 1 to 70 and every gold Mega Ball from 1 to 24, with total hits, recent form and gaps. These counts describe past drawings only. They do not make any number more likely in the next one.
Why the count starts in April 2025
LottaGo counts Mega Millions statistics from April 8, 2025. On that date the Mega Ball pool shrank from 25 balls to 24 and the $5 ticket with a built-in multiplier began. Mixing in older drawings would distort the Mega Ball counts, because ball 25 no longer exists.
The trade-off is a short history. With two drawings a week, Mega Millions adds only about 104 drawings a year. Over a short window, frequency tables jump around a lot, so a number can lead the chart one month and sit mid-table the next.
What a fair count looks like
Each drawing takes 5 white balls out of 70, so any one white ball has a 1 in 14 chance of appearing. Over 158 drawings, a fair game should give each white ball about 158 × 5 ÷ 70 hits. Each Mega Ball should appear in about 1 drawing in 24.
The dashed line on the frequency chart marks that expected count. With only a few hundred drawings or fewer, some numbers will sit several hits above it and others several below, even in a perfectly fair game. That spread is what produces "hot" and "cold" lists.
Hot, cold and overdue numbers explained
Hits in the last 100 draws
The hot panel ranks white balls by hits in the last 100 drawings, roughly the past year. In 100 drawings each white ball is expected about 7 times. A hot number with 11 or 12 hits had a lucky run. Nothing in the machine favors it next time.
Gap: draws since a number last appeared
The gap counts drawings since a number last came up. With equal chances, the average gap for a white ball is about 14 drawings, and for the Mega Ball about 24. "Overdue" simply means the longest current gap. Searches for a Mega Millions overdue numbers prediction run into the gambler's fallacy: the balls do not track what they owe, and an overdue number still has a 1 in 14 chance.
Pairs, sums and odd/even balance
- Frequent pairs shows which two white balls have been drawn together most often. There are 2,415 possible pairs from 70 numbers, so in a short history most pairs have come up once or never. Mega Millions hot pairs are mostly noise.
- Sum of 5 numbers shows the total of the white balls in each drawing. Most totals cluster in the middle of the range, because far more combinations produce a middle sum.
- Odd / even counts odd white balls per drawing. Two or three odd numbers is the most common split.
None of these patterns changes the odds of a single play: every combination of 5 white balls and a Mega Ball is 1 in 290,472,336.
Is Mega Millions random? What the χ² test shows
LottaGo runs a χ² (chi-squared) uniformity test on the counts. It asks how surprising this spread of hits would be if every ball had the same chance. The answer is a p-value. A p-value above 0.05 means the differences look like ordinary random variation. The current p-values for the white balls and the Mega Ball are shown in the "Does this work? An honest check" panel above. Drawings are held at WSB-TV in Atlanta, not by LottaGo.
Do hot or overdue numbers help? The backtest
LottaGo checked its own strategies. In a walk-forward backtest over the last 150 drawings, each AI Agent strategy (hot numbers, overdue numbers, all-time leaders, typical shape, frequent pairs) picked 3 lines per drawing using only earlier results. They matched about as often as random picks. Our guide do hot and cold numbers work? explains the reasons in more detail.

Mega Millions statistics FAQ
Which Mega Millions numbers are drawn the most?
Since Apr 8, 2025, the most drawn Mega Millions white balls are 40, 42, 17, 18, 49, and 63, counted over 158 drawings under the current rules. The Mega Ball leaders are in the separate Mega Ball chart. Because the current game only began in April 2025, the ranking can change noticeably after a few drawings.
What Mega Millions numbers come up the most?
Right now the leaders are 40, 42, 17, 18, 49, and 63. In a fair game each white ball is expected about once every 14 drawings and each Mega Ball about once every 24. The leaders are usually only a few hits ahead of an average number, which is normal variation and says nothing about the next drawing.
Are overdue Mega Millions numbers more likely to be drawn?
No. Every drawing is independent. A white ball that has missed 50 drawings still has a 1 in 14 chance of appearing in the next one, the same as every other number. LottaGo's backtest found that overdue picks matched no more often than random picks.
Is Mega Millions rigged, or are the draws random?
The data looks random. LottaGo's χ² test compares how often each number has been drawn with what a fair game would produce. A p-value above 0.05 means the differences are within ordinary chance. LottaGo only records and counts the results; it has no part in running the drawings.
