Does this work? An honest check
Every draw is an independent random event: every line has the same chance of the top prize, 1 in 13,983,816. The AI Agent’s lines are a selection based on past draws, not a forecast.
Uniformity test (χ²): main numbers p = 0.917. With p above 0.05 the differences in frequency look like ordinary random noise.
Backtest on the last 150 draws: for each draw every strategy picked numbers from earlier history only (3 lines per draw), then matches were counted.
| Strategy | Avg. matches (of 6) | 3+ matches |
|---|---|---|
| Hot numbers | 0.738 | 1.78% |
| Overdue numbers | 0.76 | 2.67% |
| All-time leaders | 0.778 | 1.78% |
| Typical shape | 0.767 | 2.22% |
| Frequent pairs | 0.72 | 2.44% |
| Random pick (theory) | 0.735 | 1.86% |
Most common Lotto 649 numbers
Since Jun 27, 2015, the most drawn Lotto 6/49 numbers are 9, 21, 45, 38, 41, and 42, counted over 1,125 Classic draws. That is the record of the past, nothing more. In a fair draw every number from 1 to 49 has the same chance next time, and these leaders do not change your 1 in 13,983,816 jackpot odds.
What "most drawn" means for Lotto 6/49
Each Classic Draw takes 6 main numbers out of 49. A single number therefore turns up in 6 ÷ 49, or about 12.2%, of draws. Over 1,125 draws, that gives the dashed "expected" line on the frequency chart: draws × 6 ÷ 49.
Real counts never sit exactly on that line. Some numbers run ahead and some fall behind, just as ten coin tosses rarely give exactly five heads. A number a few dozen hits above the line after a thousand draws is normal scatter, not a sign of a "lucky" ball. The counts on this page cover the six main numbers only. The Bonus number, the Gold Ball Draw and ENCORE are not included.
Hot, cold and overdue numbers explained
Hits in the last 100 draws
The "last 100 draws" chart shows recent form. With equal chances, each number should appear about 12 times in 100 draws (100 × 6 ÷ 49 ≈ 12.2). Numbers well above that are called "hot", and numbers well below it "cold". Over a window this short, 6 or 18 hits is still ordinary variation.
Gap: draws since a number last appeared
The gap counts how many draws have passed since a number last came up. With 6 numbers out of 49, the average gap is about 8 draws (49 ÷ 6 ≈ 8.2), or roughly four weeks of Wednesday and Saturday draws. Gaps of 30 or 40 draws happen regularly by chance. A long gap is what people mean by an "overdue" number, but the drum has no memory of it.
Pairs, sums and odd/even balance
These three charts describe the shape of past draws rather than single numbers:
- Frequent pairs: each draw contains 15 pairs (C(6,2) = 15), out of 1,176 possible pairs from 1–49. The pairs table lists the ones seen together most often. With so many possible pairs, some will always lead by chance.
- Sums: add up the six winning numbers. The average sum of six numbers from 1 to 49 is 150. The sum chart shows the range where half of all draws have landed.
- Odd/even: there are 25 odd and 24 even numbers. By our calculation, a 3 odd / 3 even split is the most common outcome, at about 33% of draws, followed by 4/2 (about 25%) and 2/4 (about 23%). All-odd or all-even draws occur about 1% of the time each.
A "typical shape" line looks like an average draw, but it is no more likely to win than 1-2-3-4-5-6. Every one of the 13,983,816 combinations is equally likely.
Is Lotto 6/49 random? What the χ² test shows
The χ² (chi-square) test asks one question: are the gaps between the real counts and the expected line bigger than random chance would usually produce? The result is a p-value:
- A p-value above 0.05 means the counts look like normal random variation.
- A p-value below 0.05 means the spread is unusual. Even then, about 1 test in 20 lands there by chance alone, and it would not show which numbers are coming next.
This test is the honest answer to "is Lotto 6/49 rigged?". It checks the draws themselves, and its current result is shown next to the charts. LottaGo has no access to the drawing equipment, so the test can only judge the published numbers.
Do hot or overdue numbers help? The backtest
LottaGo's walk-forward backtest checks the idea directly. For each of the last 150 draws, every AI Agent strategy picked 3 lines using only the draws before it: hot numbers, overdue numbers, all-time leaders, typical shape and frequent pairs. Then we counted the matches and compared them with random picks.
The full comparison table is in the "honest check" panel above, and it updates after every draw.
The result is the same as for every other lottery on LottaGo: the strategies match about as often as random lines. The longer explanation, with examples from several games, is in our guide do hot and cold numbers work?. If you still enjoy choosing from history, the AI Agent lines for Lotto 6/49 do it for you and explain each pick. You can compare these leaders with the most drawn numbers in other lotteries, or check single dates in the past Lotto 6/49 draws.
Lotto 6/49 statistics FAQ
Which Lotto 6/49 numbers are drawn the most?
Right now the most drawn Lotto 6/49 main numbers are 9, 21, 45, 38, 41, and 42, counted over 1,125 draws since Jun 27, 2015. The list is updated after every Wednesday and Saturday draw, so it shifts over time. Being at the top means a number has come up more often in the past. It does not make that number more likely in the next draw.
Are overdue numbers more likely to be drawn?
No. A number that has not appeared for 30 draws has exactly the same chance in the next draw as one drawn last Saturday: 6 in 49 of being among the winning numbers. Believing otherwise is the gambler's fallacy. Long gaps show up regularly in random sequences, and our backtest finds that overdue-number lines match no better than random ones.
Is Lotto 6/49 rigged, or are the draws random?
LottaGo's χ² test checks whether the spread of Lotto 6/49 results matches what a fair random draw would produce, and the current p-value appears beside the charts. A high p-value is consistent with random draws. The test cannot inspect equipment or procedures, which are the responsibility of the lottery operators.
What is the average sum of Lotto 6/49 numbers?
The theoretical average is 150, which is 6 × 25. The sum chart shows the actual average of past draws and the middle range where half of them fall. Picking a line with a "typical" sum does not raise your chance of winning.
